GERMINATION:
Effect of interaction of GAi and C. C. C. on the germination of three
species of Amaranthaceae:
Form the mean table and the action curves it became evident that GAi is
stimulatory and C.C.C. is inhibitory to seed germination . The percentage of
germination increased with the rise of concentration and with the progress of time in
case of GA3 and the germination percentage in creased with the decrease of
concentration and with the progress of time in case of C.C.C.
A marathus Spinosus:
(IN WINTER AT DARK):
The highest percentage of germination was observed at 500 ppm of GA<
and 100 ppm of C.C.C. could not be prevented by the promotary effect of GAo
That is way at a combination of lOOppm C.C.C. and 250 ppm of GAi there was
92% germination.
IN THE WINTER (AT NIGHT):
The highest percentage of germination was (56% ) at 500ppm GA.i an 100
ppm of C .C.C. and the lowest percentage of germination was (42%) at 500 ppm CCC
and 100 ppm of GAi In the first day, the percentage of germination at 100 ppm of CCC Percentage o f germination increased with the increases o f concentration and it
gradually increased up to 7 days.
LN SUMMER (AT DARK):
The highest percentage o f germination was 28% at 500 ppm o f GA3 and
100 ppm o f C.C.C and the lowest percentage o f germination was 17% at 100 ppm o f
GA3, and 100 ppm o f CCC In the first day, the germination was 2% at lOOppm o f
C.C.C. was minimum and it gradually increased with the rise o f GA3 and decrease o f
C C.C. The germination gradually increased up to 7 days
Amaranthus spinosus is important in traditional
medicine to fight against blood diseases, leprosy, piles and ret bite I he whole plant is the treatment of snakebite.
